The JHFI- UK team was delighted to conduct Manchester based philanthropists Mr & Mrs. Moryoussef, around the growing structure of the Ashdod Emergency Medical Centre. As a native Ashdodian, Maxi Moryoussef was most impressed with the facility which will service the population of the city Both he and his wife have graciously agreed to host a fund raising dinner in July at their home on the C'ote D'azur in Antibes. See further details to be posted here soon. The Ashdod Emergency Medical Center team and the people of Ashdod salute Mr & Mrs Moryoussef for their kindness, generosity and willingness to assist in this important effort.

On January 9, 2007, we welcomed our cornerstone donor, Mrs. Monica Hollander, upon her latest visit to Israel. Mrs. Hollander visited the site in order to see the rapid advancement of the project. She was delighted to see that level minus three is nearing completion. Pictured is Mrs. Hollander signing her name on the cornerstone of the Ashdod Medical Center. Mrs. Hollander was welcomed by various dignitaries from the Ashdod Municipality, including Mayor Zvi Zilker.

The Hudson Institute of New York hosted former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a benefit for the Ashdod Emergency Medical Center. At the luncheon, which took place on September 7th, the Honorable Mr. Netanyahu briefed the members of the Hudson Institute on his views of the current global political situation and its impact on Israel. Mr. Netanyahu can be seen in the attached photographs with Mrs. Barbara Winston and Mrs. Tova Leidesdorf, one of our gracious benefactors.

Mrs. Hollander was the guest of honor at the January 5th dinner at the King David in Jerusalem which marked the official unveiling of the project. The dinner was well attended by leading government officials and benefactors of the project.

The people of Ashdod traveled en masse to the Knesset in order to protest the appalling lack of medical facilities in Ashdod. As the primary sponsor of the Ashdod Hospital Bill, MK Sofa Landver organized this important demonstration on November 7, 2006. While the bill has passed all necessary legislative channels, the government has not kept its promise. Attending the demonstration were a number of prominent MKs, amongst them Natan Sharansky, Avigdor Lieberman, Danny Naveh and Rabbi Yaakov Litzman.
