 		AMC thanks Rona and David Picket of Harrison, New York, for their gracious hospitality in hosting a parlor meeting in their home in May. Brigadier General (Ret.) Yehuda Halevy, who is currently President of the S. Daniel Abraham Strategic Dialogue Center, spoke to the gathering about the challenges and threats facing Israel today and specifically the situation in Ashdod. Attendees at the event were asked to contribute funds in order to purchase Emergency Room Equipment. Because of the generosity of these individuals, we are able to purchase several laryngoscopes, a medical equipment cart, a medicine refrigerator and an endoscope cabinet.

On February 18th, the Shabbaton Choir of London led by Rabbi Lionel Rosenfeld and Stephen Levey, presented a “standing room only” concert in memory of Irit Sheetrit, an Ashdod mother of four, who was killed by a missile during Operation Cast Lead. Mrs. Sheetrit's best friend spoke movingly at the event and touched the hearts of all those present.

Mexican philanthropist Marcos Katz toured the AMC site together with leader of the opposition, MK Benjamin Netanyahu on January 12, 2009. Mr. Katz was impressed with the progress of the building and pledged to support the project.

On January 1, 2009, in the midst of Operation Cast Lead, Matthew Horn, Executive Director of the American Jewish Congress together with Danny Grossman, Israel Director of the AJC visited AMC in order to show solidarity with Ashdod. Mr. Horn was accompanied by former Canadian justice minister Irwin Cutler and his wife Ann. After touring the site, the group then went to see the location of several locations hit by missiles in Ashdod.
