Urology Unit Urology is that branch of medicine that focuses on the urinary tracts of males and females, and on the reproductive system of males. The AMC urology unit will be responsible for the administration and provision of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the urologic patient. This includes kidney stone and tumor removal, bladder and prostate problems (including biopsies), cytoscopic examination of the urinary tract, catheter insertion, impotence, male sterility and incontinence. The field is complex, calling on medical, surgical and a variety of endoscopic competencies.
In addition to cutting edge medical and surgical technology, the AMC urology unit’s qualified specialists will also provide personalized care from admission to check-out.
The AMC urology unit will ensure comprehensive facilities providing multidisciplinary subspecialty care or referral for:
- cancer of the prostate, bladder, kidney, or testes
- benign prostate conditions
- kidney stones
- incontinence
- female urology
- pediatric urology
- fertility problems
- sexual conditions
Our urologists place an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery for urologic cancers. AMC will offer robotic surgery and minimally invasive surgery, approaches whose advantages include small incisions, less blood loss, shorter recovery times, and less post-operative pain.
To this end a special surgical treatment room will be dedicated to the Urology Unit.
AMC patients receive urologic care in a warm and sensitive environment that allows them the opportunity to choose treatment opportunities that best suit their needs and desires.
One specialized area of concern is pediatric urology. The AMC team will provide compassionate care to children with conditions affecting the kidneys, ureter, bladder, urethra, penis and testicles. We offer the latest treatments and techniques, including minimally invasive robotic surgery, for a full range of congenital and acquired urological diseases. Some young patients with complex problems require the expertise of several specialists for both outpatient evaluation and surgery. The urologists work with a multidisciplinary team of experts including fetal medicine specialists, nephrologists, endocrinologists, oncologists, radiologists, orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons.
