The Synagogue
“Grant a perfect healing to all our wounds” (from daily Amidah prayer) No medical center in the Holy Land can be regarded as complete without its spiritual hub. Prayer and meditation are helpful in times of sickness and stress, and regular prayer services are a religious requirement for observant people.
The synagogue of the Ashdod Emergency Medical Center, now in its planning stages, will be a very special sanctuary. Both those undergoing and those implementing emergency medical procedures experience varying degrees of trauma and anxiety. The synagogue can provide patients and their families as well as medical personnel a brief respite and serve as a space of comfort. The synagogue will be located on the first floor level of the Center and will occupy an area of 675 square feet (64 square meters).
The synagogue area will be built in a modular style. In addition to providing an aesthetic and comfortable setting for prayers, with slight modification the space can also be used as conference room or lecture hall. The room will also have video conferencing capabilities, so staff can communicate with medical experts around the world for consultation or colloquia.
